Madonna…Madge Has Still Got It

Madonna – Rebel Heart Tour – 2015

Several months ago my friend Steve aka Madonnaman texted me telling me that tickets to see Madonna in DC were on sale.  He had just got his and so I jumped out of my comfort zone and got online and bought one too.  $225 bucks!  I swore I would never pay more than $100 to see anybody in concert.  But this was an exception…afterall it is Madonna we are talking about.  We couldn’t get seats next to each other, but we were only a row apart, so I clicked the BUY button and got it.  Fast forward to September 12, 2015 and I am on my way to DC to see Steve and Madonna. To be honest I was more excited to be seeing Steve than Madonna.  Steve is one of those Best Friends that you don’t talk to or see for months or years, but when you get back together you pick up right where you left off.  We work opposite shifts so staying in touch is difficult.  Made the 4 hour drive and met at the hotel, then headed to a local bar for several hours and talked and laughed into the wee hours. Saturday we rode the Metro to DC and took the Newseum tour…at least part of it.  What an amazing place…I wish we could have seen the whole thing, but it’s 6-stories of “news about the news.”  We ran back to the hotel, showered got back on the Metro and off to the show.  And what a show!  It really wasn’t a concert…it was a performance.  Mixture of Circu de Sole and Ringling Brothers!  She did about a half-dozen of her hits, but they were all with a fresh arrangement and stage production.  My favorite was this production that Steve caught on his phone:

Needless to say, the concert was amazing!  Afterwards we headed back to the hotel and chatted the night away.  Sadly I had to head back to Raleigh.  What should have been a nice 4-hour drive got dragged to 6 1/2 after a major wreck on I-85.  But I really didn’t mind, the weather was nice and I got to see Steve and Madonna.  I’d say it was a great weekend.  Looking forward to going back to DC soon.
